THE PROJECT

It is easy to come across the beauty of Nature in living things. From animals, to plants or even cells structures. But when it comes to rocks, we often think of unanimated objects of no particular beauty.

In this project I explore this very topic and I seek to reveal the natural beauty of minerals and crystals. The resulting images were in many cases surprising to me. The inner structures and colours of such elements are often striking and surreal, revealing otherworldly landscapes.
As we move from complex beings to simpler and eventually to rocks, can we be categorially sure that consciousness ceases to exist for the latter? After all the theory of quantum mechanics contains the notion of quantum entanglements, according to which atoms that interact at some level, remain connected even if at great distances.

Although art will likely not be able to address that question, one thing is clear: Nature does its magic on rocks too.
